The Sacred Path
Eight luminous milestones along the eternal path walked by Bhagwan Pushpadanta — from princely birth to the supreme state of Siddhahood.
Home/Journey
Every life of a Tirthankara is, in essence, a sacred map — a living teaching whose every chapter offers the seeker a doorway into deeper understanding. The journey of Bhagwan Pushpadanta unfolds in eight resonant chapters, each marking a sublime transformation of the soul.
Chapter I · Auspicious Birth
From the celestial realm of Vaijayanta, the great soul descended into the womb of Queen Rama, consort of the noble King Sugriva of Kakandi. The heavens themselves rejoiced; the earth blossomed with floral abundance, gentle rains and fragrant winds — for a Tirthankara had returned.
Chapter II · Royal Childhood
Within palace walls of unimaginable splendour, the young prince was raised amid wisdom-keepers, sages and arts. Yet even as he excelled in every princely discipline, his eyes carried the gaze of one who beheld a deeper world — luminous, eternal, and free from sorrow.
Chapter III · The Awakening
One day, gazing upon the unfolding cycles of season and time, the young prince saw the truth of anitya — the impermanence of all forms. In that quiet recognition, the seed of renunciation took root in the soil of his soul.
Chapter IV · The Renunciation
Setting aside crown, kingdom, and every worldly bond, Bhagwan accepted the great vow of Diksha. Wearing the simple robe of an ascetic, he turned his footsteps toward the silent forest, choosing inner sovereignty over outer empire.
Chapter V · The Tapasya
For long seasons of unbroken meditation, he stood, sat and walked in profound contemplation — observing the rise and fall of every karmic veil. Hunger, weather and worldly disturbance dissolved before the steadiness of his inner gaze.
Chapter VI · The Omniscience
Beneath the sacred Malli tree, in the perfect stillness of supreme meditation, all karmas obscuring infinite knowledge fell away. The light of Kevala Jnana — omniscience — illumined every corner of the universe through his awakened soul.
Chapter VII · The Teaching
From a luminous gathering known as the Samavasarana, Bhagwan Pushpadanta offered teachings to gods, humans, ascetics and beings of every kind. He restored the eternal Dharma — non-violence, truth, restraint, compassion and right conduct — to a world hungry for sacred light.
Chapter VIII · Eternal Liberation
Upon the holy peaks of Mount Sammeta, his life-task fulfilled, Bhagwan attained Nirvana. Free from every karma, free from form, his soul ascended to the eternal abode of the Siddhas — radiant, perfected, beyond return.
Sacred Geography
The ancient city of Kakandi, in the sacred land of present-day Bihar, holds the eternal honour of being the birthplace of Bhagwan Pushpadanta. Today this Kalyanak Bhumi remains a revered pilgrimage site — drawing devotees who walk in silent reverence upon the very soil that once welcomed a Tirthankara’s divine descent.
Mount Sammeta, where Bhagwan attained final liberation, stands as one of the holiest pilgrimages in Jain tradition — a celestial summit where twenty of the twenty-four Tirthankaras achieved Nirvana.
